[It doesn't take long for Connor to show up, though he does take the caution of paying attention to his surrounds as he makes his way to the range. Once there and sure that the mammoth things havn't returned yet, he nods at Pratt in greeting and holds out the device Ephemera gave him.]

Where'd you get this?

[Stupidly he wants to push all the buttons on it, but he knows better than that. He watched Rook electrocute himself on one of Larry's contraptions and that was enough to never push strange buttons again.]

Someone with too much confidence and who was convinced I needed his help.

[He says it flatly, clearing not super enthused about how that entire interaction went, and steps a little closer to show Pratt how to operate it.]

[Connor watches Pratt mess with the shield, and finds that he feels a little relieved that he has something to defend himself. Maybe it was worth the annoyance of the conversation from Ephemera.]

I'll be fine. I'm far more durable than a human.

[Also it's a matter of principle at the moment.]

It might be best to remain indoors as much as possible, though.

[Which he means more for Pratt than himself, because Connor's a hypocrite.]

[Pratt arches an eyebrow but doesn't say anything. In his mind Connor is far more likely to go flying apart like an erector set caught in a windstorm, but that's probably not a nice thing to say.]

It would be, but I'm not going to. I worked for weeks on this range and I'm not going to let some shaggy, overgrown cows wreck it.

[He actually worked on something and he's not going to let it be ruined by some weird mammoth hybrids. Fuck that noise.]
